We have received many mails to explain the difference between RCC and EV... here we provide a short notes on it.

Enterprise Voice and Remote call control:

Microsoft office communications user can be configured for either Enterprise Voice (EV) or Remote call control (RCC).

Enterprise Voice:

Enterprise voice capabilities enable your Office communicator to act as a phone. In this case, the phone feature is controlled by Office Communications Server (OCS). An enterprise voice enabled office communicator user experience becomes much better with Rich integration with OCS presence.

Remote call control:

Remote call control feature allows managing calls using Microsoft Office Communicator (MOC). But the MOC user can’t use MOC to actually talk.  If a call comes to the desk phone, the integrated MOC also rings. The MOC user gets option to accept, reject forward etc. But the actual media won’t be communicated through the MOC. If RCC user receives a call from either desk phone or MOC, the user will have to use the desk phone to talk. MOC user’s presence will be turned to busy status.

Following chart shows the features comparison for the two solutions (EV and RCC).

Very good summary. Maybe you can add DND (Do Not Distrub) and Conference are not supported by RCC but are available for EV.
