Voice mail tab in Outlook 2007 (11-Jan-09)

Voice mail tab in outlook 2007

=========================

We've been handling some issues with Voice mail tab quite frequently... This article talks about the different types of Voice mail tab issue faced by us.

Voice Mail Tab doesn't appear in outlook 2007:

This tab is enabled only for Exchange 2007 UM enabled users. This tab (Tools menu => Options => Voice Mail Tab) is not available in previous versions of Outlook.

User is enabled for Exchange 2007 UM and using Outlook 2007, still the Voice mail tab is grayed out:

In this case, all voice mail tab settings are visible, but these are disabled. you can't make any change in the settings. You can still access the voice mail through the Outlook Voice Access. You can also make the changes in voice setting using Outlook Web Access. Follow the following steps to resolve the issue...

Step 1: Microsoft does not support installing Exchange Server components and Outlook on the same computer.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266418/en-us

If Exchange server components and outlook are installed, uninstall both components. Delete the following registry keys:

Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging  Subsystem\ MSMapiApps
String: EMSMDB32.DLL
String: EMSABP32.DLL

Reinstall the Outlook 2007.

Step 2: Some of the users do see Voice mail tab in outlook 2007 enabled. Only few of them have the voice mail tab grayed out (disabled). copy Mapi32.dll from the working machine and paste it on the problem machine. The idea is to replace the problem Mapi32.dll with the working one.
