No missed call notification or Voice mail on the OCS Phone device (09/29/2008)

Problem:

We have seen so many times that the customer would not get missed call notification or voice email on the OCS Phone device. Though Microsoft office communicator will keep receiving missed call notification. So the missed call notification and voice emails are shown in MOC 2007 but not on OCS Phone devices.

Reason:

There is a fundamental difference between how a MOC receives missed call notification and how an OCS Phone device receives it.

The OCS Phone device uses Exchange 2007 web services to get the missed call notifications and voice mails.

Resolution:

You need to ensure that the autodiscover feature of Exchange 2007 is working fine.

Ensure that you do have an A record “autodiscover.<SMTP DOMAIN>” pointing towards the exchange 2007 autodiscover service (Exchange 2007 CAS server).

Ensure that the CAS server is configured with a certificate having FQDN autodiscover.<SMTP DOMAIN> in subject name or Subject Alternate Name (SAN).

Ensure that the OCS Phone device does have root CA certificate of the certification authority which has issued certificate to the Exchange CAS server.
