Migration of buddy list from IBM Sametime to Microsoft LCS\OCS:

When you take decision to migrate your users from Sametime to LCS\OCS, the most important piece of migration is migration of buddy list from Sametime to LCS\OCS.

First step towards migration is introduction of LCS\OCS server(s) in the Active directory. After that you   can detach the user from IBM Sametime and enable it for LCS\OCS.

Next step is to ensure that you migrate the buddy list as well. There is no tool from Microsoft to do so! But fortunately you can use third party tool to do migrate the buddy list from Sametime to LCS\OCS.

One tool that I am aware of is “Instant buddy list migrator” from Instant technology. This tool helps you preserve your groups and group memberships as you migrate from Sametime to LCS/OCS.

Instant Buddy List Migrator helps you in the process of migrating from Sametime to LCS/OCS by automating the migration of your Sametime buddy lists and eliminating the need to rebuild all your groups and group memberships post-migration.

It also helps you during the period of co-existence; Instant Buddy List Migrator’s integration with Session Manager from Convergence enables Sametime users and LCS/OCS users to belong to single, unified buddy lists so they can communicate seamlessly across platforms.
