Allowing\Blocking File Filtering for Live Meeting
and Communicator Clients |
Through this article we will talk about enabling and
disabling file transfer filtering.
If you don't want to allow the OCS users to do file
transfer, you can disable it through Intelligent IM
Filtering. Intelligent IM Filtering is an application
which gets installed with OCS itself.
You can even allow\block certain types of files. For
example if you want to block only executable files to be
transferred, you can do so!
Other thing is, If you want to disable file transfer
using office communicator and at the same time you want
to let Live Meeting client users to transfer the files
then how to achieve this! Obviously we can... we will
discuss about how to do in this article.
Situation: You want to block file transfer
through any types of OCS clients.
Solution: Application Properties => Intelligent
IM Filter

Click Block all
file Extensions. This will block any kind of file
transfer for live Meeting and Office Communicator
clients. If you want to
block only files with particular extensions, you can
select the second option in the following figure.

Situation: You want to block file transfer
through only Office Communicator 2007, but you want the
Live Meeting 2007 users to be able to transfer the
files.
Solution: Allow File transfer using Intelligent
IM Filter as follow.

And configure the following two Group Policies.
AllowUnencryptedFileTransfer
Disabled
PolicyDisableFileTransfer
Enabled
You will
get mentioned policies in group policy after importing
communicator.adm template. youc an download the
communicator.adm template from below link.

Again the Live
Meeting and communicator clients wont be able to do file
transfer when Intelligent IM Filter is blocking the file
transfers and following group policies are enabled
AllowUnencryptedFileTransfer
Disabled
PolicyDisableFileTransfer
Enabled
