How to disable Enhanced Presence? |
Note: Microsoft never recommends
to disable Enhanced presence of an OCS 2007 user.
Disabling enhanced presence will bring that user out of
supportability scope and at the same time the user will
miss the features introduced by Enhanced Presence.
Open
ADSIEDIT.MSC and go to the properties of the
Enhanced Presence enabled user. You should see the
attribute msRTCSIP-OptionFlags.
This attribute specifies the different options that are
enabled for the user or contact object. This attribute
is a bit-mask value of type Integer. Each option
is represented by a bit. This attribute is marked for
Global Catalog replication.
The valid value types of this attribute are as follows:
· 1: Enabled for public IM connectivity
· 2: Reserved
· 4: Reserved
· 8: Reserved
· 16: RCC (remote call control)
Enabled [Telephony]
· 64: AllowOrganizeMeetingWithAnonymousParticipants
(allow users to invite
anonymous users to meetings
· 128: UCEnabled (enable users for unified
communications)
· 256: EnabledForEnhancedPresence (enable user for
public IM connectivity)
· 512: RemoteCallControlDualMode
· 1024: Enabled auto-attendant (enables the use of auto
attendant)

Change the value of this attribute from 256 to something
else (from the above mentioned range). In this example
we have changed to 1.

Now open the Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC)
mmc and locate the OCS user in order
to check
the “Enable enhanced presence” setting again. It
should be checked off. This indicates now that this
attribute is disabled and the user would be able to
login in the previous version of MOC 2007 or Messenger
for Mac 7 (provided the Client Version application
allows it).
