How to connect OCS 2007 Phone Device

You need to configure following things in order to ensure you can login through the OCS Phone Devices...

  • DNS

  • DHCP

  • NTP

  • Certificate Service registered in AD

DNS

Ensure that autologin works for office communicator users. It is must as the Tanjay device will look for the same SRV records to connect with the OCS Server. After that create following SRV record for Time Synchronization.

A UDP SRV record for the NTP service (stored under yourDomain.com/_udp)

_ntp      port:123      NTPServerFQDN

See how to configure NTP Server: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042/

DHCP

You need to have the DHCP server configured properly before a Tanjay gets IP address to connect on the network. The DHCP server should be configured with following options:

·         Option 3 - Router (IP Default gateway for the phone)

·         Option 6 - DNS Servers (one or more DNS servers)

·         Option 15 - DNS Domain Name (default domain name for the phone)

·         Option 45 - NBNS Node Type (set to 0x8).

Certificates:

You need to have Root CA certificate published or auto-enrolled in the Active Directory. For more information, click here...
