You can upgrade Live Communications Server 2005
with SP1 to Office Communications Server 2007 only by using a side-by-side migration,
which involves deploying an Office Communications Server 2007 Standard Edition or
Enterprise pool alongside your existing Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1
Standard Edition or Enterprise pool and then moving users to the new Office Communications
Server 2007 Enterprise pool or Standard Edition server. This option provides the
benefit of coexistence and minimal service disruption.
When migrating your servers, you should deploy
Office Communications Server 2007 servers using an “outside-in” approach. This means
that you first deploy the edge servers you need to support your new Office Communications
Server 2007 environment, and then deploy internal servers.
