Codec supported by
Mediation Server |
The Mediation server uses
G7.11 u-law by default. and there is no way you can
change the preferred codec at mediation server level.
u-law is used only in
North America, rest part of world use a-law. So the
question is can we use Mediation server anywhere else
other than North America? Answer is yes!
The PBX that interacts
with the
Mediation
Server must be configured to use only a single
codec
(i.e., either a-law or u-law, but not both) on its
interface with the
Mediation
Server; the
configured
codec must be the
desired codec
for voice encoding. The following interaction would
happen:
Mediation server will send Invite offer with u-law and a-law
PBX will answer with a-law
Mediation server has some compatibility issues with some PBX systems. Its
always advisable to contact MS before you proceed with
the Voice integration.
And always make sure that
the mediation server is updated.
Microsoft.rtc.mediationservercore.dll is the file
name which you should check to know the correct version
number.
The above problem was with OCS
2007 R1. It is resolved in OCS 2007 R2. Now PBX doesn't
need to be configured with only one codec.
