Creating a new channel in OCS 2007 R2 Group Chat Server |
After installation of Group Chat Server, you need to
create a new channel.
Before following the following steps create following
users in AD and enable them for OCS.
James Anderson (JamesA), Julia Roberts (JuliaA), Ramesh
Pandey (RameshP) and Oliver Kahn (OliverK).
Create two directory groups Assist and IT as well.
a.
On the group chat server,
launch the Admin Tool, click
Start => All
Programs => Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007
R2 =>
Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Group
Chat Administration Tool. you can also open the admin
tool by double clicking following file.
C:\Program Files
(x86)\Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007
R2\Group Chat Administration Tool\AdminTool.exe.
b.
It
may take up to few minutes for the login window to
appear.
c.
At
the Group Chat Administration Tool Sign In page, leave
the Account
type as Automatic
Configuration.
d.
In
the Sign-in address
field, type
GCadmin@ OCSPedia.com
e.
In
the User name
field, type OCSPedia\GCadmin
with the password and then click
Sign In.
f.
In
the Group Chat Administration Tool, click
Root and then
click the Create new
group channel within the selected category
button.
g.
On
the New Group Channel page, in the
Name field,
type First_Channel.
(You cant have spaces in the name)
h.
In
the Description
field, type First
Channel Discussion Board.
i.
In
the Invitations
drop-down menu, select
Yes.
j.
In
the File Uploads
drop-down menu, select
Yes and then
click OK.
m.
Alter
the Name
field to First_Channel
and then click OK.
n.
Back
on the Group Chat Administration Tool, click the
First_Channel
channel you just created.
o.
Click
the Members
tab, and then click
Add.
p.
On
the Add User To Role dialog box, in the
Search For
field, type JamesA and then click
Search.
q.
In
the search results window, click James Anderson and then
click Add.
r.
In
the Search
field, type JuliaR and click
Search.
s.
In
the search results window, click Julia Roberts, and
click Add.
t.
Similarly add Ramesh Pandey & Oliver Kahn.
u.
Next,
search on Assist,
and Add
the Assist
Directory
Group. We are also able to add entire AD groups if we
choose. Now click
Close.
v.
On
the lower-right, click
Apply and
then click the Chat
Room Managers tab.
w.
On
the Chat Room Managers tab, click
Add.
x.
On
the Add User to Role dialog box, search on
IT and
Add the
IT
Directory
Group and then click
Close.
y.
On
the lower-right, click
Apply.
